Restoration of the Apostolos Andreas Monastery – Karpasia

The restoration project of the Holy Monastery of Apostolos Andreas in Karpasia began in 2014 and was completed in 2016. It was carried out as part of a bicommunal cooperation by our company, in collaboration with Turkish Cypriot contractor Yakup Tel.

The project's architect was Diomides Myrianthous, and it was implemented under the auspices of the UNDP.

The works involved major structural repairs and the restoration of the church to its original form.

Restoration of the Historic Larnaca Club Building

This impressive 18th-century building, known as the Larnaca Club, is a significant part of the architectural and social history of the city. It originally served as the residence of the Mattey family, and during the British colonial period, it was transformed into an Officers' Club, gaining notable cultural and administrative importance.

When restoration works began in December 2018, the building was in a state of near-collapse. The restoration lasted two years and was carried out under the supervision of the Department of Antiquities.

The project's architect was Alexis Valiantis, and the civil engineer was Michalis Trypiniotis.

The works included:

  • Structural reinforcement of the building

  • Restoration of traditional architectural features

  • Preservation of its historical authenticity

Pilavakis Mansion – Municipal Library & Cyprus University of Technology Library

The Municipal Library, also known as the Pilavakis Mansion, also serves as the library of the Cyprus University of Technology .

It is housed in a historic and architecturally significant building, which today functions as a modern space for learning and creative expression.

Our company, in collaboration with NEMA Construction, carried out structural reinforcements using carbon fiber laminates and grout injections in the stone masonry. The unique stone reliefs adorning the building's exterior façade were carefully cleaned and restored.

New flooring and joinery (doors and windows) were installed, along with the construction of a modern extension featuring an external staircase and an underground reading room.

Restoration of the Historic Verengaria Hotel

The historic Verengaria Hotel, also known as the "Hotel of Kings", was built in the early 20th century in Prodromos village, at an altitude of 1,400 meters. It operated from 1931 until the late 1980s, hosting kings, heads of state, and internationally renowned personalities.

The impressive stone building, combining elements of colonial and traditional Cypriot architecture, stands as an iconic landmark for the wider Troodos region.

After four decades of abandonment, the building showed severe signs of structural collapse. Our company undertook its restoration under the ownership and commission of BBF, with architect Marios Economides and civil engineer Michalis Pittas.

The works began with addressing the collapses and continue today with repairs and structural reinforcements, aiming to transform it into an earthquake-resistant structure.

Our primary goal is to highlight the building's historic identity, preserve its authentic architectural features, and convert it into a modern, earthquake-resistant construction capable of meeting contemporary standards.
